About Sisters Of Saint Joseph Brentwood
The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia, located in the Brentwood neighborhood of Brooklyn, is a Catholic congregation with deep historical roots tracing back to seventeenth-century France. Founded on a mission of uniting neighbor with neighbor and neighbor with God, the sisters have served in hospitals, schools, orphanages, and community aid services since their arrival in America in 1836 and in Philadelphia in 1847. Today, approximately 500 sisters continue their tradition of spiritual and corporal works of mercy, addressing urgent challenges facing the poor, marginalized, and vulnerable. The congregation welcomes Associates in Mission—lay women and men—who share their commitment to incarnating love and justice in daily life. Visitors are invited to learn about their history, ministries, and mission of uniting all people with God and one another.
