What to Expect as a First-Time Visitor to St. Joseph University Parish in Buffalo, New York

Dress Code: At St. Joseph University Parish, we have a casual and welcoming atmosphere. You're welcome to wear whatever makes you feel comfortable, whether that's jeans and a t-shirt or something a bit dressier. The most important thing is that you feel at home here.

Service Format: Our weekend Mass schedule includes Saturday vigil at 4:30 pm and Sunday Masses at 9 am and 11 am. The services generally last around 60 minutes and follow a traditional Catholic format with Scripture readings, a homily, and the celebration of the Eucharist.

We encourage full participation - you're welcome to sing along with the hymns, respond to the prayers, and receive communion if you are a practicing Catholic. However, if you prefer to observe quietly, that's perfectly fine too.

Tips for Visitors: - Arrive a few minutes early to get settled and find a seat. Ushers are available to help direct you. - Feel free to pick up a worship aid/program from the back of the church to follow along with the service. - During communion, you can choose to receive the consecrated bread and wine, or you can come forward for a blessing by crossing your arms over your chest. - At the end of Mass, our community gathers for coffee and donuts in the Parish Hall - this is a great way to meet some of our members and learn more about getting involved.
