About St John Of God Rc Church
St. John of God Roman Catholic Church in Central Islip traces its roots to 1895, when Catholics in the community gathered for their first Mass in a private home. The parish was officially established in 1904 and takes its name from the patron saint of hospitals and the sick, a fitting choice given the parish's historical connection to the local state hospital and its commitment to serving the sick and vulnerable. Today, the parish continues its Catholic mission through regular worship, religious education, and social outreach ministries. The parish offers bilingual services to reflect its diverse community and maintains active programs in religious education and social services. Visitors are welcomed to experience the rich traditions of Catholic worship and join in the parish's ongoing mission of faith and community care.
