About First Baptist Church
First Baptist Church of Central Square has roots stretching back to 1820, when Baptist believers gathered in schoolhouses and homes before the church was formally organized in 1845 by Rev. Peter Woodin, a carpenter who helped construct the building dedicated in 1846. The church remains committed to teaching God's Word as found in the Bible and welcomes all who seek to experience salvation through personal faith in Jesus Christ. The congregation emphasizes becoming focused, equipped, connected, and involved in the life of faith, reaching those far from God while nurturing the spiritual growth of believers.
