About Ecumenical Community Chautauqa
The Ecumenical Community of Chautauqua is a non-profit organization founded in 2003 to provide low-cost housing and foster interfaith dialogue during Chautauqua Institution's nine-week summer season. Located in the heart of Chautauqua, New York, the ECOC operates three connected buildings with a total of fifty rooms and apartments, positioned steps away from the Amphitheater where morning ecumenical services and lectures take place. The community emphasizes religious inclusion and compassion, welcoming individuals and families of all faiths, including clergy, religious workers, and lay persons. Guests share community kitchens, porches, and living spaces, creating opportunities for meaningful dialogue, fellowship, and the formation of lifelong friendships across different religious traditions. The organization is dedicated to providing an accessible and nurturing environment that supports guests in experiencing Chautauqua's intellectual, cultural, and religious programs at affordable rates.
