About Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center
The Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center in Glen Cove is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to preserving and teaching the history of the Holocaust while promoting tolerance, respect, and understanding across all communities. Located at the Welwyn Preserve, the center features seven thoughtfully designed galleries that guide visitors through the history of the Holocaust, from life before the war through its aftermath and lessons for today. The center serves as a sanctuary for people of all faiths and backgrounds, offering docent-led tours, educational programs for students and adults, and community outreach initiatives focused on combating antisemitism, racism, bullying, and all forms of intolerance. With knowledgeable staff and meaningful exhibits featuring artifacts, photographs, and documents, HMTC provides visitors with a powerful educational experience aimed at building a more compassionate and inclusive world.
First-Time Visitor Info for Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center
Dress Code: Please enter decently dressed; no backpacks, food, or drink; do not touch or lean on exhibits; selfies in the museum are discouraged. Service Format: The center operates as an educational museum with docent-led and self-guided tours of indoor galleries and outdoor gardens. Guided tours are limited to groups of 15 or fewer per guide and require booking at least two weeks in advance. Visitor Tips: Hours are Monday to Friday 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM and Saturday to Sunday 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM; please call ahead at 516-571-8040 before visiting. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors (65+); the museum is recommended for ages 10 and older.
