About Long Island Council Churches
The Long Island Council of Churches (LICC) is an ecumenical coordinating body serving Nassau and Suffolk Counties since 1969. Rather than a traditional parish, LICC unites nearly 800 diverse Christian faith communities to work together improving the well-being of Long Islanders and promoting interfaith understanding and cooperation. The organization operates emergency food and family support programs, serving over 66,700 individuals and families annually through its pantry in Freeport and comprehensive social services including housing assistance, financial education, chaplaincy, and advocacy on issues such as affordable housing, health care access, and poverty reduction. Led by an Administrative Board of local clergy and community representatives, LICC partners with over 50 public and private agencies to provide emergency food, medical assistance, transportation, and disaster relief to low-to-moderate income residents.
