Mount Zion Baptist Church is one of the oldest churches organized in Nashville, Tennessee, having been founded in 1866 just three years after the Emancipation Proclamation. The church is a Word-centered ministry committed to evangelizing the lost, equipping believers, and providing holistic ministry to the community and world. Under the leadership of Bishop Joseph W. Walker III and First Lady Dr. Stephaine Walker, Mount Zion has grown from 175 members to several thousand and now operates multiple campuses across the Nashville area. The church embraces a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural approach and emphasizes worship in spirit and truth, with a foundation rooted in Scripture. Mount Zion is dedicated to promoting education, awareness, and financial independence while serving as an oasis of hope within the Nashville community and globally.
