About First Presbyterian Church

First Presbyterian Church in Mount Vernon has served the Westchester community since its organization by the Presbytery of Westchester on June 23rd, 1887, making it a historic institution with over 135 years of ministry. The church relocated to its present location on East Lincoln and North Columbus Avenue in 1933, with the current sanctuary dedicated on May 18th, 1952. As a multi-cultural congregation, First Presbyterian has been deeply involved in community outreach, hosting programs such as Meals on Wheels, the Boys and Girls Scout troops, youth summer camps, and supporting social missions throughout Mount Vernon. The church welcomes visitors to join in worship and become part of a congregation dedicated to spiritual growth and community service. Music has remained central to the church's identity, with a rich history including the founding of the Mount Vernon Music Academy and the Presbyterian Jazz Society, which has presented outstanding jazz performances since 1981.
