About Greek Orthodox Church
The Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit in Rochester, New York has served the local Orthodox community since its establishment in 1995, when approximately fifty families came together seeking pastoral care and intimate spiritual experience. Now comprised of 170 families from diverse backgrounds, the parish operates in its current location, the former South Avenue Baptist Church, which has been transformed with an iconostasis and sacred icons. The vibrant community offers religious education, youth and young adult programs, warm fellowship, and numerous volunteer opportunities. The parish's mission centers on promoting the spiritual well-being of those committed to the Orthodox faith while reaching out to converts, those in interfaith marriages, and unaffiliated Orthodox Christians throughout the greater Rochester area. Beyond worship, the parish engages in active outreach ministries including food pantry donations, support for trafficking survivors through Angels of Mercy, and Orthodox Christian mission work.
