About Holy Name Of Mary
Holy Name of Mary Parish in Montrose, Pennsylvania, is a Catholic community with roots stretching back to 1857, when local families purchased a former Episcopal church building. The parish has grown from monthly masses served by visiting priests to an active congregation with regular weekend and weekday services led by Reverend Philip S. Rayappan. The church building itself, constructed in the 1880s on South Main Street, has been thoughtfully maintained and renovated over the decades, including restoration of its sanctuary, sacristy, and stained glass windows. Beyond worship, the parish maintains a strong commitment to religious education, youth engagement, and community service, reflecting its mission to build on Catholic faith while extending Christ's love and compassion to all people.
