About Sisters of Saint Joseph
The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia is a Catholic religious community with deep roots in American faith and service. Founded in seventeenth-century France and established in Philadelphia in 1847, the congregation has spent nearly two centuries responding to urgent social needs through education, healthcare, and works of mercy. The sisters have ministered in hospitals, schools, orphanages, and community aid services, earning recognition for their compassion and willingness to serve the marginalized and vulnerable.
