About Ukrainian Autocephalous
St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, located in Rochester, New York, serves the Ukrainian Orthodox community with deep historical roots tracing back to the late 1940s when post-World War II Ukrainian refugees established the parish. The church, completed in 1982 in the Ukrainian Byzantine architectural style, offers liturgical services conducted primarily in Ukrainian with English inserts. The parish is actively engaged in community life through food sales featuring traditional Ukrainian cuisine, monthly sisterhood gatherings, volunteer maintenance efforts, and family events. Parishioners are invited to worship and participate in the vibrant spiritual life of this established Orthodox community.
