About West End Temple
West End Temple is a Reform Jewish congregation located in Rockaway Park, Queens, serving the Rockaways, Southern Queens, Southern Brooklyn, and beyond. Founded in 1939, the temple has grown from its early days in the Seville Hotel to its current building constructed in 1954, becoming a vital institution in the local community. Under the leadership of Rabbi Rebecca Epstein, the congregation emphasizes building sacred community through spirituality, Torah learning, social action, cultural celebration, and life cycle rituals. West End Temple explicitly welcomes people of color, interfaith families, Jews by Choice, LGBTQIA+ individuals and families, and those differently-abled. Beyond religious services, the temple provides Universal PreK programming, youth activities, and other community services aimed at strengthening the broader Rockaway area.
