It was formed on July 28, 1967, by members of the West Sayville and Sayville communities, and originally met in house meetings under Rev. Alfred Isaksen. Rev. Edward M. Rizzo serves as the current pastor. The church purchased Shiloh Retreat Center in New Baltimore, New York, in 1977, and in April 2007 purchased a 5.1-acre, 34,000-square-foot site in Sayville.
