About Sidney United Methodist Church

Sidney United Methodist Church is a warm, welcoming congregation rooted in over 200 years of Methodist faith and community service in Sidney, New York. Located at 12 Liberty Street in the heart of downtown Sidney, the church traces its origins to 1831 when revival meetings held in the home of early settlers Mr. and Mrs. Arvine Clarke led to the organization of the first Methodist Episcopal Class. The congregation has grown and adapted through the centuries, moving to its current Liberty Street location in 1871 and dedicating its present sanctuary in 1934. Under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Brandilynne Craver, Sidney UMC welcomes people of all ages, backgrounds, and faith journeys, offering traditional Sunday worship featuring beloved hymns, scripture readings, and thoughtful sermons. The church is actively engaged in community ministry, including monthly fellowship dinners and the Tri-Town Nursery School program that has served local families since 1964.
