About St Joseph Sisters
The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia is a Catholic religious congregation with deep historical roots tracing back to seventeenth-century France and established in Philadelphia since 1847. Based in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood, the community of over 500 sisters is dedicated to their founding charism of uniting neighbor with neighbor and neighbor with God through spiritual and corporal works of mercy. The sisters have ministered extensively in hospitals, schools, orphanages, and community services throughout twelve states, responding generously to the urgent needs of the poor, marginalized, and vulnerable. Their mission continues to evolve as they address contemporary challenges while maintaining their commitment to incarnating unioning love and gospel witness in service to the Church and world.
