About Stamford United Methodist Church
Stamford United Methodist Church is part of the Delaware Headwaters Charge, a cooperative parish that brings together nine Methodist and Presbyterian congregations across Delaware County, New York, under the leadership of Pastors Dawn Richards, Peggy Laemmel, and Mike Gebhard. The charge traces its roots to 2013 when Methodist churches in the region began collaborating to meet shifting demographic needs while maintaining spiritual vitality and community service. Stamford UMC itself merged with the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford in July 2022, creating a shared worship home at 96 Main Street in Stamford. The broader parish invites visitors and members alike to join in worship, prayer, music, and service as part of their mission to shine God's light into the world. Worship at Stamford UMC takes place at 10:15 a.m. on Sundays, and the charge welcomes newcomers to discover opportunities for spiritual growth and fellowship within this active regional faith community.
