About Sacred Heart Convent
Sacred Heart Convent in Syracuse, New York is home to the Sisters of Mercy, an international community of Roman Catholic women dedicated to serving those in need. The Sisters of Mercy embody a mission rooted in the Gospel of Jesus and the legacy of their founder Catherine McAuley, taking vows of poverty, chastity, obedience, and service. The community strives to deepen their relationship with God while intensifying their work toward a more just and inclusive world, with a particular focus on five critical concerns: care for the Earth, immigration, nonviolence, racism, and the rights and needs of women and children. The convent operates as part of a global network of over 6,000 Sisters of Mercy and sponsors numerous service organizations throughout the Americas that serve economically poor, sick, and uneducated populations. Visitors are invited to connect with the community through their spiritual resources, including prayer resources, spiritual reflections, retreat centers, and the opportunity to request prayers for personal intentions.
