About Augustana Lutheran Church
Augustana Lutheran Church in Tonawanda is a welcoming congregation rooted in Swedish Lutheran heritage, having served the community for more than 130 years since its founding by Swedish immigrants in Buffalo. The church embraces an inclusive vision as a Reconciling in Christ congregation, explicitly welcoming people of all races, cultures, ages, gender identities, sexual orientations, and abilities as beloved children of God. Beyond Sunday worship, Augustana is actively engaged in community outreach, including its fifteen-year-old RIDE program that helps refugees and immigrants earn their driver's licenses, food and clothing collection efforts, and mission work supporting a Christian school in Sierra Leone. The congregation offers a warm spiritual environment where visitors can experience both in-person worship in the sanctuary and participation via Zoom, with opportunities to connect through coffee hour and various activities throughout the year.
