About Congregation Berith Sholom
Congregation Berith Sholom is a progressive Reform synagogue located in Troy, New York, established in 1866 and housed in New York's oldest building in continuous use as a synagogue, built in 1870. Led by Rabbi Debora S. Gordon for nearly twenty-five years, the congregation welcomes all who are inspired by Judaism's teachings and traditions, regardless of religious background or membership status. The community emphasizes inclusive worship, lifelong learning, and tikkun olam—repairing the world through acts of justice and loving kindness.
