About Saint Nicholas Church On The Hudson
Saint Nicholas Church on the Hudson is a small, welcoming Episcopal faith community serving New Hamburg and surrounding areas in Dutchess County. Built in the Carpenter Gothic style and first used for worship on January 30, 1903, the church was recognized on the National Historic Register in 1987. After being reborn as an independent parish in 1982 following a period as a memorial chapel, St. Nicholas has grown into a vibrant congregation known for its warm, relaxed approach to worship and its commitment to inclusion and outreach. Sunday worship takes place at 10:00 a.m., and the church emphasizes being a loving, outwardly-facing community where God's presence is felt, the Bible is faithfully taught, and people of all ages and backgrounds can grow together in faith and holy friendship.

Dress Code: Dress comfortably for the season; most parishioners wear casual clothes to worship services and church events. Service Format: Services last about an hour and include Holy Communion, which is celebrated at all services; all baptized Christians are welcome to receive Communion, and all are invited forward for a blessing. Children ages 5-12 participate in Sunday school for part of the service before joining their families, and professional nursery care is available for children 4 and younger in the undercroft. Visitor Tips: Arrive early to introduce yourself to the clergy, and plan to join the congregation in the undercroft after the service for coffee, snacks, and fellowship.
