The parish was founded by Bishop Michael Dudick to serve Byzantine Catholics who relocated from Brooklyn and Manhattan to Long Island's suburbs, bringing the Eastern Catholic faith and traditions to Nassau County. While maintaining the theology and liturgical practices rooted in the early Christian Church of the East, the church conducts its services, songs, and homilies in English, making the Byzantine Catholic tradition accessible to American parishioners.
