About UU Congregation of Asheville
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Asheville, founded in 1950, welcomes spiritual seekers, justice doers, and meaning makers of all backgrounds. Located in Asheville, North Carolina, this 75-year-old congregation centers its faith on covenants rather than creeds, embracing the principle that "we need not think alike, to love alike." The congregation gathers for worship both in person and online, maintaining a strong commitment to social justice, sustainability, and community transformation. With roots tracing back to 1894 when a "saddlebag preacher" brought the Unitarian message through the region, UU Asheville has grown into a vibrant community housed in an award-winning building designed by member architect William Moore, inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's Unity Temple.

Dress Code: People wear a wide range of clothing choices, from "Sunday best" to very casual attire; wear what helps you feel most comfortable. Service Format: During most of the year (September through May), two Sunday services are offered—a Contemplative service at 9:15 am and a Traditional service at 11:15 am with music, readings, meditation, a sermon, and children's programs; in summer (June through August), one service is held at 10:00 am. Visitor Tips: Plan to arrive early as parking is limited with most congregants parking on the street; stop at the Welcome Table in the foyer to receive a name tag and ask questions; children are welcome to participate in Faith Formation classes or remain in the sanctuary during services.
