About Up River Friends Meeting
Up River Friends Meeting is a Quaker congregation in Belvidere, North Carolina, with the mission “to know Christ and to make Him known.” Its history reaches back to June 3, 1866, when the first meeting for worship was held in a schoolhouse. The first meetinghouse was built in 1875, and the present meetinghouse was constructed in 1914. Up River was granted monthly meeting status in 1946, reflecting a long-standing Friends presence in the community. Worship is blended, with the congregation gathering in the Quaker tradition around Christian faith, witness, and shared life.
