About Saint Andrews Episcopal Church
Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in Canton traces its life to a mission begun around 1906 by the Episcopal Missionary District of Asheville. Its worship space was built in 1921-22 by parish founder William Frank Bell, and the Pisgah stained-glass window was designed by Priest Clarence McClellan and installed in 1923. The congregation gathers for liturgical Episcopal worship on Sunday mornings and also makes the service available on YouTube. Community ministry has long been part of its life: Holy Smoke barbeque began as a way to pay off church debt, and property across Academy Street is now used for Holy Smoke and Backpacks of Love ministries.
