About Parkwood United Methodist Church
Parkwood United Methodist Church is a welcoming, ecumenically-minded congregation rooted in the Wesleyan tradition, located in the Parkwood neighborhood of Durham, North Carolina. The church embodies the Methodist principle of "open minds, open hearts, open doors," intentionally creating space for people of all backgrounds, sexual orientations, races, and genders. As a member of the Reconciling Ministries Network, Parkwood is committed to working for inclusiveness and justice for LGBTQ+ individuals. The church offers both in-person and livestreamed worship services on Sunday mornings and is actively engaged in community service through partnerships with the Parktown Food Hub and participation in the Durham CROP Hunger Walk. Under the pastoral leadership of Adam Benson and the musical direction of Desiree Davis-Omburo, Parkwood UMC seeks to embody grace and intentional listening across traditional divides.

Service Format: Worship services are held Sundays at 10:30 AM with in-person and livestreamed options available; Sunday School for adults and children begins at 9:30 AM. A Spanish-language service (Avivamiento Iglesia Cristiana) meets at 5 PM on Sundays. Visitor Tips: Parking is located across the street from the church in a shared lot; visitors are asked not to park there on Fridays as a courtesy to neighboring businesses and Jamaat Ibad Ar-Rahman mosque.
