About Nelson Chapel Baptist Church
Nelson Chapel Baptist Church in Louisburg traces its roots to 1867, when it was established as the Franklin County Religious Assembly. The congregation was later known as Elm Grove Baptist Church and then Nelson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Its first building was a one-room log cabin located about 150 yards from the present church site. A bell tower added in 1898 still stands today, and the current-site building was constructed in 1933. The church is affiliated with the Franklin County Missionary Baptist Association, General Baptist State Convention, Woman’s Convention, and the National Baptist Convention.
