About Hester Baptist Church
Hester Baptist Church in Oxford, North Carolina, is a Baptist congregation with roots dating to September 1823. The church was named for Captain Benjamin F. Hester, who donated the land for the congregation. Its first meeting house was a 20 by 20 foot log structure, and in 1918 the church dedicated a new brick building built in the shape of a cross. The church property also includes a cemetery that has been part of the grounds since the late 1800s. Hester Baptist states that the Bible is its only true rule of faith as Baptist Christians.
