About First Free Will Baptist Church
First Free Will Baptist Church in Tarboro began in 1952, when the congregation first met in individual homes. The church later held services in the Old Jewish Synagogue on Main Street before moving in 1954 into a newly built church on Hope Lodge Street. In 2001, the congregation moved to its present location on Western Boulevard. The church is part of the Free Will Baptist tradition, with roots the church identifies in the United States as early as the 1690s, and within a North Carolina convention organized in 1913.
