About Bethabara Christian Church
Bethabara Moravian Church is the oldest congregation of the Moravian Church in the South, with roots stretching back to November 17, 1753, when fifteen young men arrived in the Wachovia valley to spread the Gospel. The church has continuously worshiped in this valley for over 270 years, moving to its current sanctuary in 1972 after significant mid-twentieth-century growth. Grounded in the Moravian heritage and the principle of "in essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; and in all things, love," the congregation invites visitors to experience worship centered on Jesus Christ and Christian fellowship. Beyond weekly services, Bethabara actively serves the community through a food pantry and clothing closet, open monthly, and welcomes volunteers to join in its mission to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.
