About Temple Emanuel

Temple Emanuel is a Reform Jewish congregation in Winston-Salem that welcomes an inclusive and diverse community of all backgrounds and experiences. Members include newcomers and longtime congregants, children and adults, individuals and families of all compositions, interfaith partners, Jews by birth and by choice, and gender diverse people. The temple emphasizes lifelong learning through religious education for children and families as well as adult study opportunities, rooted in the values of community building, spiritual practice, and tikkun olam—working to heal the world. Service Format: Friday evening Kabbalat Shabbat services feature song, prayer, and Torah study led by Rabbi Charlie Cytron-Walker and Music Director Jason McKinney. Saturday morning services include prayer, Torah study, and reflection. Tot Shabbat for young families includes interactive storytelling and a Torah parade followed by communal dinner. Visitor Tips: Contact the office ahead of time at 336-722-6640, ext. 104 to arrange a warm greeting and tour. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM–2 PM. Services are offered both in-person and via livestream. First-time visitors are encouraged to attend a Friday evening or Saturday morning service.
