About Eastern North Dak Synod Elca

The Eastern North Dakota Synod is a regional expression of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, comprising over 180 congregations, two campus ministries, and two outdoor ministry sites across eastern North Dakota. United in Christ, the synod dares to invite, connect, and act, welcoming all people into the fullness of God's boundless love without exception. The synod serves as a resource and connection hub for ELCA members, providing support to rostered ministers, lay leaders, and congregations while organizing conferences, facilitating partnerships with the larger church, and accompanying individuals discerning a call to ministry. Based in Fargo, the synod is led by Bishop Tessa, who was elected in 2020 as the synod's first female bishop, and is supported by a dedicated staff including deacons and pastors focused on areas ranging from congregation vitality to disaster resilience and global partnership. The Eastern North Dakota Synod maintains a global companion relationship with the Central African Republic and a domestic partnership with the Alaska Synod, demonstrating its commitment to justice, advocacy, and radical hospitality across all things.
