About Augustana Lutheran Church
Augustana Lutheran Church is an ELCA congregation in Grand Forks with deep roots in the city’s Swedish immigrant community. Swedish immigrants gathered on October 23, 1887, to organize the congregation, and services continued in Swedish until 1935, when they changed to English. The church’s current site on University Avenue was built in 1955. The sanctuary includes a stained glass window titled “His Eye is On the Sparrow,” made from 630 pieces of cut glass. Augustana also offers small groups as part of its congregational life.
