About Augustana Lutheran Church
Augustana Lutheran Church is a multigenerational faith community rooted in Swedish immigrant heritage, originally founded in 1887 and relocated to its current location at 520 University Avenue in 1955. As a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, the congregation emphasizes authentic, honest, and creative expressions of faith while maintaining rich Christian traditions. The church is intentionally focused on serving the downtown Grand Forks community and the Near North Neighborhood, with particular passion for mission work and recovery community ministry. Visitors will find a welcoming environment that draws upon centuries of Lutheran heritage while remaining open to new approaches to worship, learning, and service. The sanctuary is distinguished by a striking stained glass window titled "His Eye is On the Sparrow," composed of 630 pieces of cut glass and created over several years in the 1990s.
