Fairlawn-West United Church of Christ in Akron, Ohio is a welcoming congregation with roots tracing back to 1888, formed through the 1973 merger of West Congregational Church and Fairlawn Community Church. The church embraces an Open and Affirming identity, welcoming all people regardless of age, ability, gender, race, or sexual orientation to explore and deepen their Christian faith. Sunday worship at 10 a.m. features the BASIC Band providing contemporary music, with Holy Communion celebrated every week and children's programs including nursery care and age-specific faith formation groups. Beyond worship, Fairlawn-West actively serves the Akron community through partnerships with Family Promise, Habitat for Humanity, and Barberton Area Community Ministries, reflecting their commitment to peace, justice, and stewardship of creation.
