About Saint Emilian Byzantine Catholic Chuch

Saint Emilian Byzantine Catholic Church in Brunswick, Ohio, traces its roots to 1975 when the first Divine Liturgy was celebrated in a local bank basement by a growing community of Byzantine Catholics relocating to the southwestern suburbs. Named after Saint Emilian, a sixth-century bishop and confessor who fearlessly defended the veneration of icons against imperial persecution, the parish embodies the Eastern Christian tradition of liturgical worship and spiritual resilience. The congregation moved to its permanent home on Substation Road in 1976 and completed a striking new church building in 1999, featuring distinctive onion domes and beautiful iconography that continues to be added. Led by Father Peter Boksay, the parish gathers regularly for the Byzantine Divine Liturgy and welcomes visitors and longtime parishioners alike to experience the beauty of Eastern Catholic worship, participate in social events, and support community outreach projects.
