About Soka Gakkai International USA
Soka Gakkai International USA in Cleveland is part of the most diverse Buddhist community in the United States, representing a global network of more than 11 million practitioners in 192 countries. The community practices Nichiren Buddhism centered on respect for the dignity of life and the philosophy of Buddhist humanism. Members gather monthly for neighborhood discussion meetings where they study Buddhist principles, chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, and share experiences of applying Buddhism to life's challenges. SGI-USA is committed to dialogue and nonviolence based on the conviction that individual happiness and the realization of peace are inextricably linked, and engages in peace activities including human rights education and efforts to promote sustainable development.
