About The Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church
The Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church, located in Cleveland, Ohio, was established on December 16, 1945, when 250 members marched from the Triedstone Baptist Church to form this new congregation. Under the leadership of Dr. John Rollin Plummer, the church grew both spiritually and financially, raising funds to purchase a building at 1161 East 105th Street in 1946. Today, under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. E. Theophilus Caviness and a team of associate ministers, the congregation continues its mission of presenting Christ to all. The church maintains active ministries including music, youth programs, missions, and community outreach, while serving as a welcoming spiritual home in the Cleveland community.
