About Ursuline Sisters
The Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland have served the community for 175 years, beginning their ministry in 1850 with the establishment of Ursuline Academy. Founded on the charism of Saint Angela Merici, the sisters transform lives through contemplation, justice, and compassion, working across education, pastoral ministry, social justice, and social services. They serve people of all ages and backgrounds, with particular focus on women, children, and the economically poor. Today, the community ministers through multiple channels including school administration at all levels, social service provision, hospital and hospice chaplaincy, spiritual direction, and advocacy for the marginalized. The sisters work alongside lay partners as Gospel witnesses and signs of hope, continuing their 175-year legacy of joyful, compassionate service.
