Founded in 1844 by Bavarian settlers who initially gathered in private homes, the parish constructed its first wooden church in 1861 and built its current brick structure, dedicated in 1903, which still serves the congregation today. The parish has grown to approximately 875 parishioners who gather weekly to celebrate Mass as one family. Saint Michael's welcomes children of all ages during services and offers religious education to children beginning at age four through volunteer teachers. The parish is widely known for its annual Church Festival, a tradition since 1903 featuring games, food, and a celebrated family-style chicken and ham dinner that draws thousands of visitors each year.
