First Congregational Church of Bethel, United Church of Christ, is a historic New England congregation founded in 1759 and located at 46 Main Street in downtown Bethel, Connecticut. The church emphasizes an open and affirming welcome to all people regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, family structure, ability, or economic circumstance. With a focus on inclusive community, thoughtful faith exploration, and living out the love and justice of Jesus, the congregation offers worship, children's and youth ministries, adult faith formation, music programs, and service opportunities. Dress Code: You are welcome to dress comfortably for yourself; attire ranges from jeans and shorts to jackets, ties, dresses, skirts, and more. Service Format: Sunday worship begins at 10:00 AM in the Sanctuary and includes an usher greeting, bulletin guidance, a Children's Message with Sunday School dismissal, Communion on the first Sunday of each month, a Passing of the Peace, and a Coffee Hour with fellowship in Main Hall afterward. Visitor Tips: Nursery care is available for infants through age 5; rocking chairs, changing rooms, and activity clipboards are provided in the sanctuary; guest books and visitor cards are available; the pastor greets visitors at the end of the service; parking is on-street along the side of the church closest to the building.
