About St John's Lutheran Church
St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sidney is an ELCA congregation with roots dating to July 5, 1840, when the congregation was organized. Its first church council was installed later that year, and the congregation purchased its first church home on Water Street in 1854. The current building’s cornerstone was laid in 1927, with an educational wing added in 1960. Worship is offered in both traditional and contemporary styles, with traditional services on Saturday evening and Sunday late morning and a contemporary service on Sunday morning. The church also offers children’s ministry.
