About Central Church of Christ
Central Church of Christ has served Shawnee since its formal organization in 1907. The congregation describes itself as seeking to be non-denominational and to follow the New Testament pattern, with the Bible as its only guide and no human creed. Its history includes the present building, completed in 1941, with the first worship service held there on January 18, 1942. The congregation also reunited with East Main on September 27, 1992. Central Church of Christ’s identity is rooted in a desire to practice Christian faith according to Scripture.
