About Spirit of Grace
Spirit of Grace is an ecumenical Lutheran-Catholic community located in Beaverton, Oregon, founded in 1986 and recognized by both the Oregon Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Archdiocese of Portland. The congregation is a dynamic, lay-led community that welcomes all people regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, or beliefs, striving to embody Lutheran ecumenical ideals and Catholic Social Teaching. In 2025, the community's Director of Catholic Ministries, Vinci Halbrook-Paterson, was ordained as a priest, allowing the community to continue its shared worship, study, and commitment to justice and service. Spirit of Grace describes itself as a joyful, socially active congregation that fosters full participation and belonging for all people seeking a spiritual home.
