About Common Ground
Common Ground is a non-denominational faith community in Bend, Oregon that uniquely combines exploration of Christian faith with a passion for outdoor pursuits and environmental stewardship. Rather than meeting in a traditional church building, the community gathers in living rooms, outdoor spaces, and rented venues throughout Central Oregon, reflecting their belief that the natural world provides meaningful Common Ground for spiritual conversations and authentic relationships. Their approach centers on small group LifeGroups that meet weekly for worship, discussion of Jesus's teachings, and mutual support, complemented by monthly larger gatherings called Common Ground Gathers that celebrate faith through music, testimony, and outdoor worship. The church also emphasizes service to the outdoor community, adventure-based spiritual formation for children, and multi-day retreats that integrate faith exploration with recreation. Founded during the pandemic out of a conviction that outdoor enthusiasts deserve spaces to engage honestly with faith questions, Common Ground seeks to foster deep relationships and reflect Jesus's heart within Central Oregon's outdoor community.
