About Friends Meeting House (Quakers)
The Corvallis Friends Meeting is an unprogrammed Quaker meeting located in Corvallis, Oregon, dedicated to gathering in silence and listening for the presence of God. Visitors will find a welcoming community that gathers for worship with no designated minister leading services, though members occasionally speak briefly when moved by the Spirit. The meeting convenes multiple times weekly, including Sunday morning sessions, a Wednesday evening meeting for worship, and walking meetings at local parks. The community is actively engaged in social justice work, particularly regarding racism and the rights of Indigenous peoples and people of color. Children's programs are available on Sunday mornings, and visitors are encouraged to participate at whatever level feels authentic to them, whether in silent contemplation or vocal ministry.
First-Time Visitor Info for Friends Meeting House (Quakers)
Dress Code: Not specified — please contact the church directly. Service Format: Unprogrammed worship in silence, with occasional brief vocal messages from members; a designated Friend closes the meeting by shaking hands with another after approximately one hour. If you feel moved to speak, do so; however, responses directly addressing previous speakers are discouraged, and several minutes should pass before speaking after someone else has shared.
