About Visitation Church
Visitation Church in Forest Grove, Oregon is a Catholic parish with deep roots in the community, founded in 1875 by Dutch immigrants seeking religious freedom and economic opportunity. The church has grown from a small temporary chapel into a vibrant parish that now serves over 270 families, many of whom are descendants of those original settlers. The parish operates Visitation School, which educates over 200 students across multiple generations of families, and maintains strong community traditions including the annual Verboort Sausage & Kraut Festival. The current church building was constructed in 1948-49 following a fire that destroyed the original structure, and the parish continues to invest in its facilities and ministries to serve Forest Grove's Catholic community.
