About Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon
Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon is a statewide association of faith partners dedicated to serving marginalized communities and advocating for justice across Oregon. Founded in 1974 through the merger of the Oregon Council of Churches and the Portland Council of Churches, EMO brings together diverse communities of faith to learn, serve, and advocate for peace and the integrity of creation. The organization operates six direct service programs addressing food insecurity, immigration legal support, housing for unaccompanied youth, HIV/AIDS support, and domestic violence assistance, while simultaneously pursuing systemic change through public policy advocacy. EMO's approach integrates direct service, education, interfaith dialogue, and advocacy rooted in mutual respect and compassion for all people and creation.
