St. Stephen’s Episcopal Parish is a historic Episcopal congregation in downtown Portland with roots dating to 1863. The parish served as the Bishop’s Cathedral from 1892 to 1973 and has been connected with several firsts in Oregon Episcopal life, including welcoming African American members in the 1920s and calling a woman rector. Its longtime church building at SW 13th and Clay was sold to Operation Nightwatch on January 31, 2025. St. Stephen’s continues to emphasize community service and is connected with a Healing Arts Center.
