About Union Gospel Mission Of Salem
Union Gospel Mission of Salem is an interdenominational church and comprehensive service ministry founded in 1953 to serve homeless and vulnerable individuals in the Salem area. Beginning with the mission's opening on Ferry Street to help harvest workers, the organization has grown to include multiple facilities: a Men's Mission, Simonka House for women and children, and Simonka Place in Keizer. The church shares the love and grace of Jesus Christ through nourishing meals, safe shelter, job training, and spiritual recovery programs designed to help individuals transition from survival to stability to sustainable living. Their holistic approach combines immediate humanitarian assistance with transformative spiritual care, rooted in a classical evangelical statement of faith emphasizing Christ's redemptive work and the Holy Spirit's role in human restoration.
